I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream

Today I took a walk back in time. We had lunch at Doumars barbecue Located in Norfolk VA. This is home to one of the few places where you can still get curb service. For those of you living in a part of the country that offers Sonic Burgers please don't be confused. I am talking about real service. The kind where a waitress comes to the car and takes your order. These women come from a time warp, back in the day where you tell them what you and they remember it. No pen and paper, no touch cash register to type it on. They actually listen to what you say the first time and bring it out to you on a tray. They offer great food at a really low price. You can still get a cheese burger all the way for $1.70. The chocolate shakes are a real chocolate and served in a frosted glass. These are not just any ole milk shakes, but the kind that is so thick you have to eat it with a spoon. I've downloaded a few pictures of how it looks today but be sure and visit the web site for a bit of history and some pictures of how it looked when it was first built. To peek your interest, I bet you will be surprised to find that Abe Doumar invented the first ice cream cone, and that Doumars has been around since 1907

Wow, that looks like an amazing place ... almost like something out of "Happy Days". Don't think we have, or had for that matter, anything like that here in Melbourne. Hope the food was yummy. Take care, Meow
