For 26 cents

One of the daily things I do at work is go into the food court for Ice Tea from Chick Fil A and yesterday was no exception. I grabbed a handful of change and made my purchase. As I was leaving I dropped what I thought was one penny. I picked up and went back to my store. About half way up the aisle I heard a small voice saying "excuse me". When I stopped there stood a little girl about six, she held out her hand to me and said I think you dropped this. She offered me a penny. I was so taken back and touched that a child of that age would try to return a penny I not only told her to keep it, I promptly handed her a quarter to go with it. I told her that was for being honest and thanked her mom who was close by. How refreshing I thought. Would you have stopped to return a coin if you saw someone drop it. To be honest I doubt if I would. Bills, maybe if I knew who dropped them But a penny, no way. That mom can be proud, she is teaching her daughter that she shouldn't keep things that don't belong to her. I smiled as I returned to my cash register. There is hope for our future.

That is sweet. And not many people would try to give you back a penny either so her mama must be teaching her well. :) And you furthered that by giving her a quarter for a reward too!
