Flying Slurpees

Ok before we begin let me warn you this is an ugly post and I am angry.

Yesterday we stopped at a local 7-11 I waited in the car while my daughter ran in to get a Slurpee to take to her son as a surprise when she picked him up from the babysitter.
Several minutes went by and I noticed no one was coming out so I got out of the car to see what was taking so long. I noticed a man and woman in what looked like a verbal argument. I could tell she was mad and he was sort of standing her off. There is a small child crying and the man is telling the woman that she needs to hold her child and let her know she is ok. I thought they were having a fight and this was holding up the line. I ask my daughter who was standing close by what was going on. A fight she replied, I then said well I can tell that from the parking lot. I said did they call the police (still thinking it is the couple having the fight) No she replies. I looked at the couple and said this is ridiculous cut it out or I will go out and call the police myself. I leave the store.

A minute later my daughter comes out and is yelling at me to call the police.
Coming out behind her is one of the 7-11 employees and the other woman. I yell what is wrong..My daughter then tells me that this woman has hit HER..
I am really confused because I think the man and woman are the ones fighting..my daughter says no..it was her and the woman. It seems the lady had accused my daughter of cutting her in line words passed between them, she takes my daughters drink which is on the counter and shoves it..so my daughter shoves the woman's stuff and the woman SLAPPED her..
I of course by now am relaying all this to the police who are on the way..
The woman in the mean time is lead to her car and told to leave...I am telling them and my daughter is telling them no she can not go because she has been assaulted and the police have been called...
Not only do they tell the woman to go..but they tell her that if she runs over my daughter it won't be her fault because my daughter will not move out from behind the car.
We get the license plate and make and color of the car while on the phone to the police she speeds off.

My daughter realizes she does not have her glasses on so we go back inside to get them. The store is a mess, candy is everywhere, it had been knocked down and broken while the girls were scuffling. The employees are telling my daughter to go outside because they don't want there customers to here us talking about the police being on the way or the fight and do not at any point offer to help her find the glasses which had been knocked on the floor next to them.

By now the police and store assistant manager arrive..We all go back into the store, where they review the secuity tape in the back room..We are not invited to view it. They then come out, and my daughter is told from the security tapes they can not tell what happened other than they were fighting.
She is then advised that she can file charges as they have the woman's information from my call but it will be her word against the woman's.
We accept this and get ready to go. As things are wrapping up the assistant manager smarts off to my daughter that She can tell that she (my daughter was in it) and they we don't need to be in the store talking in front of her customers. I smarted off to her that she didn't have to worry..that once we were finished that we would NEVER come back to her store again and in fact I worked at the mall and will make sure everyone that I come in contact is told not to go back in her store.
I am so angry at her and the unprofessional way this is being handled by the 7-11 employees that I go out side to wait. I am out there less than a minute when out comes the assistant manager. I approach her and in a calm way (or at lest as calm as I can be under the circumstances) tell her that I understand she has rules to follow but it unacceptable that she confronted my daughter on this and yet they let the other woman go and that they have set them-self up for a law suit. I then go in and see if my daughter can leave yet. About a minute goes by when in walks the assistant..looks at me and says to my daughter " Tell her I said I was just trying to help you" and walks off. I was livid I say to her we don't need your kind of help..
Things wrap up, we leave...I put in a call to Dallas Texas where 7-11 headquarters is located, report this and have a case number..I am waiting to here back from them. I am giving them another 24 hours, then I am going to call again and tell them if I do not have someone calling back ASAP I'm calling the news.

In the meantime the police called my daughter back today to let her know that they have located the other woman who tells them " in there words....a conflicting story"... They asked my daughter if she wanted to have charges filed but again warn her that it will be one persons word against the other..
My daughter said just forget it, it is not worth the hassle of getting a lawyer going to court and fighting this because the woman will just counter charge her and it will be one big mess..

one little thing.....they forget I know her license # I also know what neighborhood she lives in and it is just a couple of streets over from me... The police let it slip I just kept that little information to myself. La dee da da....

Well I need to go now..My dog needs to go for a walk Maybe I'll take a long walk tonight..go over a few blocks....and I always carry a bag for her poop She poops a LOT.....

Ok I really won't leave poop on this woman's car because first of all she would know we did it..but come on admit it..It would be fun..Anyone want to go for a walk with me.
*giggle*

On the serious side..
this is really frightening..I can't believe a company as large as 7-11 does not have a set rule for something like this...How dare they allow the woman to not only leave but encourage her to do so and then tell her to run my daughter down when my daughter is clearly the victim...Then to have the assistant manager act in such an unprofessional way..I am really mad...My daughter may not do anything legal to the woman who hit her but I do plan on making sure anyone and everyone hears about this and how it is handled by the company.

I am so sorry that this happened to your daughter. I can't believe how unprofessionally she was treated.

I am glad that it seems she wasn't injured. You must just be steaming, even still.

Please keep us posted.

Good Gosh Patty... That is unbelievable. I cannot believe the way the entire thing was handled.. You know that VICTIMS have no rights these days. Every single day I hear or read about a judge (or jury) letting the crooks go on one case or the other. Just think about the idiot who stole all of the money from his investors.. He doesn't have to go to jail; he gets to stay in his million dollar penthouse awaiting his trial... Go Figure!!!!

Get this message out to everyone you know... Just pass the word and tell people NOT to go to the 7-11 ever again.

Keep us posted.

Hope tomorrow is a better day.
Hugs,
Betsy

What a dreadful and frightening experience! I wonder what the world is coming to when it's not safe to go shopping any more?!!
I'm glad that your daughter is physically ok, these days it could've been so much worse - how frightening is it that i could say those words? In a world where there's SO much violence the fact that relief that she was 'only slapped' tells a sorry tale indeed. I hope that you both recover from the shock of this soon, and agree that you need to take any non violent steps necessary to try and ensure that no one else has to go through this again. xXx

Oh Autumn, this is so distressing! I can't believe people's behaviour sometimes and what people get away with. I hope that you all can get over it and let it go but it is kind of freaky she lives near you. Horrid!

And I'm totally in agreement with you about stuff from China, they aren't going to get another dime from me, I can tell you that!

Yikes! I can only imagine what you both must have gone through. I know for me, my "mama cat" would have been baring her fangs and claws.

Hopefully, you'll be able to put this behind you. Sometimes the best thing we can do, is just let it go and keep our own Karma clean!

I'm sure this woman's life must be miserable!

Well how RUDE!! Unfathomable that they encouraged the other lady to leave and even run over your daughter!! I certainly hope the corporate folks take it more serious than the local store-and treat it more professionlly. Actually your daughter was assualted twice-once by the lady and once by the way she was treated by the employees.

Are you kidding me?!? What about witnesses, did the police talk to any witnesses about what happened? Then it wouldn't have been just your daughter's word against the other lady's word. This is just ridiculous and to have told her to go ahead and run your daughter over - did anyone tell the cops that part?!?

I would be livid and I would be back on the phone to corporate HQ demanding to know WHAT is going on. Please keep us posted when you get an update!
