Men!

Today is Valentines Day. A day when lovers (and friends) everywhere show each other just how much they care. My day so far has sucked. My husband and I had a rare argument because he knew I had to work until 10 tonight and instead of having a Valentine ready for me he came up empty handed. His excuse was he was going to get something later today. Well duh, by the time I get home the day will be over.
This hurt my feelings since I had him something ready to give this morning.
To try and make up for things he went to get breakfast at McDonald's and came back in with a card, a small box of candy and a single rose. This upset me more because I felt like it was an after thought. I had asked him early last week to please get me a spring flower bouquet if he got anything because I did NOT want candy or roses.
We had words over it and I haven't even read the card. Now I am sitting in the living room sulking and he is in the bedroom watching TV
Am I being a baby or do men just suck?

I think Valentine's Day is filled with unnecessary expectations brought on by the purveyors of fine flowers. Hope you guys find something fun to do this evening. I agree that things gotten on the day of are irritating. Either do it before or fuhgedaboudit!

I understand how you feel - it's like he couldn't take the time to think about it ahead of time. It's not like the date just sneaks up either - it's the same date every single year! Maybe he'll make up for it in some sort of surprising way on a day you least expect it.

I feel your pain and understand totally. *hugs* I told mine that all I wanted were herb seeds to plant a garden. (I just have to go pick them out)

I don't think that a lot of guys have figured out that little things mean the most. If they would just listen and pay attention... they would be better off in the long run.

I hope you have a better day, today. Take care,

Debbie

Well, I got nothing either. I called my grown kids. Not to sound morbid, but my husband is dead. So grab your guy and tell him you are just glad that you have each other. Share a hug...wow, I never ever get touched.

Oh, Autumn, I hope by now things are ok between you and your man. Tease about it in a light way. They do suck sometimes, you know, and we are too hard also sometimes as well...

I'm sure that he carries you in his heart, it's just that sometimes these guys don't know how to express themselves as often as they should, or we liked them to! :o)

Kisses from us.

I dunno - both? Dan has made it extravagantly clear to me that he does not DO Valentine's Day (I did Valentine's Day for him and Kristen until she went to college.)
So, I have learned to not expect flowers, etc. It was hard - very hard - at first. I have unused Valentine's cards from several years - tit for tat! But I realize that he does show me his love in more mundane ways like starting my car when it is freezing outside in the morning!
