Weird Weather

I can't believe it is Jan. 15th. We are getting the most unusual weather. The high today is suppose to reach 75 degrees. Yesterday we got to 72. Where is the frost? The cold winds? The ice and snow? Well forget the ice and snow. I don't like them anyway and fortunately we don't get it often, but the cold weather is usually here by now. It seems a lot of places are getting weather that is out of the ordinary for this time of year. Extreme to one side or the other. I heard some parts are snowed in. Burrrr. I hope things warm up from them soon. According to our forecast things are suppose to feel a bit more normal around here by the end of the week. I think it is going to drop down to freezing temps at night. In case you haven't noticed I added the weather bar to my side table so everyone can see how warm/cold it is here In my part of Virginia.
With all the talk of weather it got me to thinking about some signs of the weather so I looked up weather folklore on the net. I found some really interesting things, so I thought I would list a few of them here.

Did you know?

Dandelion blossoms close before a storm.
Birds on a telephone wire indicate the coming of rain
When spiders weave their webs by Noon, fine weather is coming soon.
When a cow tries to scratch her ear it means a shower is very near.

And here is my favorite

Get a rock from somewhere, and place it somewhere like in your yard or something!
That's all you have to do, and your ready for forecasting!!!!!
If you don't want to use a rock, you can use a horse, works just as well!!!

If it's dry ------Weather's Clear

If it's wet -----It's Raining

If its white ---It's Snowing

If it's gone ---Tornado

Much more accurate than the weather forecasters we have around here.

I'm going to find a rock right now.

Hey thanks for commenting on my site! It's been the opposite here in San Diego. It's been as low as 21 degrees! WOW! The frost ruined a lot of orange and avocado crops.

Lovely :) My Grandfather told me all of those "wives tales". My favorite of his (which relates to the rock) is, "It's always raining somewhere."
