ABC Wednesday-3-12-08

H is for Horses on the Beach and these beautiful ones were photographed by my son a few years ago when he went to Assateague Island on Virginia's Eastern shore. Every year they have a wild pony swim. Click on the link to read more about it.

I've heard of the wild ponies there but this is my first time to see them. Don't they look right at home by the seashore?!

Wild pony swims are something I have been able to see on television now and then and am always in awe of the horses. I love horses and dogs so anything about them is of interest to me. This is a nice photograph.

They are so beautiful! Are they really wild ponies? That idea is so foreign to this part of Ireland.

Beautiful animals in a beautiful setting. There are "wild" horses near us on Cumberland Island in Georgia, but the park service considers them a nuissance animal because they destroy the natural ecosystem and aren't truly native to the island.
