Westover Plantation-ABC Wednesday

Westover was built circa 1730 by William Byrd II.
This is one of the most beautiful homes in the area. It is an outside tour only and includes the ice-house and a small structure containing a dry well with passageways which led under the house and to the river, as an escape from the Indians.
A short walk from the main house is the site of the original Westover Parish Church and cemetery where the Byrd family is buried. (I will be posting more on this on my other blog)

What a Wonderful idea to post a video slide show of a tour of that area.
Wouldn't it have been interesing to have lived there in that era?
Thank you for your posting.
I am very impressed.

Great idea for the "W" post. I'm guessing this is the same Byrd family as the current Senator Byrd??

You live in a very historic part of our country.
