Birthday Dreams
Today is my grand-daughter Laila's sixth birthday. I have never seen her,(except for photos) never held her and know little about her except that she is part of me. Happy Birthday Baby. You may not know who I am, but I know who you are, You are the child of a strong young man, who is stuck on one side of the U.S. while you are on another. Your mother won't let you get to know him..It makes me sad. Your the grandchild of a woman who would love to take you shopping, sit by the duck pond and giggle, eating peanut butter sandwhiches, telling you stories of where you came from and all about our family history. But now is not the time...Someday...Someday
One can only hope.
One can only hope.

It will happen, it always happens.
That is so sad! Has your son tried to fight for visitation? These days, even grandparents can!
Keeping a child away from a loving part of her family is just awful.
Patti,
This is so sad. My sister is in the same situation. She has a grandson she has never seen. He must be about 15 years old by now. Fortunately she was just able take a trip to Idaho to see her other three grandsons.
I never knew who my father was - certainly wasn't going to find out from my family. I finally learned who he was through my second cousin on that side of the family. (He was already deceased.)
Wishing you good luck that your grandchild seeks you out.
Stopping by from Sweet VA Breeze. I enjoyed the visit!
I have what my college called 'an area of interest' in the Civil War -- I went to school near Gettysburg! I'll be stopping by again.
Also, the family situation is just sad and I'm so sorry for you and your son.
Hi Patty, Sorry you haven't met your granddaughter. That's sad. Maybe someday you will get to meet her. I'm sure your son wants to be able to see her more. Distance is hard.
I read about your daughter. Hope things work out for her. When is the baby due????
Hope things settle down soon --and hope you have a good summer.
Hugs,
Betsy
That's really sad Patty. I am just getting to know my own new graddaughter and I would hate to miss out like this. It feels really unnatural - but that seems to be part of modern life. No wonder people are so confused.
So sorry for the bad stuff ... I know that must be awful, for you and your son. Best thoughts for it.
