Photo-Hunt Childhood

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

This weeks theme is CHILDHOOD. You can join the photo hunt by going

  • and view the blog list for them on my side bar.

The theme this week is CHILDHOOD and I thought about using a photo of my kids or grandkids. Instead I found this one of ME!. I remember this lazy summer day. I was 9 and living in Georgia. My dad was in the Navy and stationed in Hawaii at the time. Mom had gone home to her family with us kids. A few months later President John F. Kennedy was shot, we practiced air raid drills at school and life slowly changed. Aww the innocence of childhood.

What a fun photo! 1963 wasn't a great year in the fall, that's for sure. I don't remember too much, only my mom staring at the Zenith for days on end.

This was a year after my brother was born so I would have been 10 and just moved from Virginia to Indiana. The day JFK was shot is one of those burned in memories along with the shuttle disasters and 9/11. Every generation has its loss of innocence moments... each seems worse than the previous.
