It's beginning to look.....
It's starting to look like the holidays at my house. In my living room you will find my tree.
I also decorated one of my shelves with my snowmen
And the other one with odds and ends.
On top of the cabnit where my computer is I have Santa's and a single reindeer.
In my kitchen You will find my purple tree.
This is my Yule log which I will light on the 22,(It hold tea lights)to welcome back the sun.
I still have a few more things I need to find a home for but at lest it is a beginning.
To be honest I hate this time of year. I think it is because something bad always seems to happen.
Three years ago this month my dad passed away.
The following year I lost a friend at Thanksgiving, and then on Christmas Eve my mom's neighbor whom I had known since I was a child died.
Last year my husbands sister in law and niece and nephew were killed by a drunk driver.
So far this year a close friend of mine husband just lost his job. My ex-husband also found out today that as of Jan. his job has been cut to part time which cuts outs all of his benefits. He is going to quit because He has to have a full time job and needs his insurance due to health problems. Also he gets a discount on his apartment from working for the company that manages this area. He will have to pay full rent now which sucks for him,
(UPDATE: The ex is keeping the job. They are going to let him keep the discount for the apartment and he is intitled to insurance from the military becaue he is retired. That is going to be cheaper anyway that what work offered him. There will be a small cut in the pay due to shorter hours, but at lest it will level out.
This is one bright spot. )
I guess you can see why I am a bit gun shy. I just hold my breath waiting for something bad to happen.
January can't come fast enough for me.

I can sympathize with you. My brother was killed in a car accident on Dec. 21, 1978. We did not have Christmas that year, except for our little 2-year-old nephew. It was hard for a few years after that too.
Thanks for showing your decorations. I love to see what other people do.

Hi Patty:-) Oh I so love your tree and all the decorations...everything looks wonderful! I almost bought myself a purple tree when I was at Michael's last week but ended up buying the white one..will show pictures of it soon. I really wanted the pink one but they were out of them. Love your Yule log also!
I can see why you don't care for the holidays with all those awful things that seem to happen around this time of year.
Love your snowman background and header...perfect:-) xox
you can say that again. Seriously, Jan can not get here fast enough. Did you know Phillips mom just died and Steves grandpa died a couple of days ago. ANd my boob just came unglued so I have a big red sore bleeding hole until tomorrow.
BAH HUMBUG!!!
so much tragedy seems to happen at this time of year or does it happen all the time we are just more sensitive at christmas time? My first husband was killed end of November in 1977.. I had a nearly 3 year old son and had to do Christmas.
I see you like snowmen.. i had to close the santa giveaway early due to my illness.. i have some snowmen to giveaway to - would you like one? let me know xo
Your decorations are lovely. I'm still trying for the Christmas spirit but more going through the motions than anything else.
Maybe if I keep trying, it will work.
Are your Yule logs birch? I love your snowmen, I have my yule penguins :-)
Tragedy seems to hit so much harder at this time of year for some reason. Like that mall shooting the other day, it just hurts more when you know people are out being merry.
