Money Soup

Sorry I am posting this a bit late to do on New Years Eve, but try it anyway, it can't hurt

This money soup can be made New Years Eve, or any time to attract money during the next year. Remove the silver object before eating the soup.

1 coin or small silver object
2 cups water
1 1/2 tablespoon butter
1 large onion, minced
1 small head green cabbage, shredded
4 cups chicken stock
Salt and Pepper to taste

Boil the sliver object to sterilize it. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the onion and saute till light brown. Add the cabbage and cook until tender. Toss in the silver object. Add chicken stock to vegetables and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer fifteen minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Hi Autumn...I have you on my bloglog thingee and wanted to stop by and say hi. Your profile really amazed me because I know exactly where you are talking about...the meadow at Caves Cove..beautiful. I have a poster of the place above my computer...that's how much I love the place. I blogged about a Tennessee sunrise if you'd like to read about it (Boomer Chick). Also amazed you live in Hampton Roads..near me on the Shore. Small world.

Well, I'm a year late in making this comment, but I was looking through your folklore posts and saw this.We always eat cabbage on New Years Day. It is supposed to bring prosperity in the New Year. When I was a child we put silver (usually a dime) in our cabbage. We never took it out, though. The person who got the silver in his portion was the one who would come into money that year. It think that was the only way to get us kids to eat it.
