Here we go again

Gettysburg, 1889: "In great deeds something abides. On great fields something stays. Forms change and pass; bodies disappear; but spirits linger, to consecrate ground for the vision-place of souls. And reverent men and women from afar, and generations that know us not and that we know not of, heart-drawn to see where and by whom great things were suffered and done for them, shall come to this deathless field, to ponder and dream, and lo! The shadow of a mighty presence shall wrap them in its bosom, and the power of the vision pass into their souls."

General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain
Former Colonel of the 20th Maine Infantry

Ok my goodness, I am excited this morning. We just made plans to go to GETTYSBURG PA. for Memorial day weekend in May. I have a cabin booked at the campground we went to last fall. We were not lucky enough to get the same cabin (which is suppose to be the haunted one) but got one in the over flow area which is ok by me. We will be more isolated and have our own porta potty (fun fun NOT). There is a nice bath house just up the path (at the other end) so we will survive. We are only going there to sleep and at $60.00 a night it beats the holiday prices for a motel.
If you haven't read about my adventures in Gettysburg last fall, be sure and click on the link on my side bar and visit the blog I set up for it.

Not that I'm jealous or anything mind you but "WAAAHHH!! I WANT TO GO!!"

My cousin and I have been talking about making another trip down to Gettysburg now that they've got the new diorama reopened and all. Maybe we'll get lucky and find the time to go this year; though I think I would prefer to wait until the Fall rather than go during Summer.

Can't wait to see your pictures from your trip!

Linda, I loved it in the fall, but am looking forward to this trip. Since it is memorial day weekend there will be some living encampments so we will be able to get photos of the re-enactors in uniform, and also there is a parade planned for Monday.
Come on down and join us.

Patty, That sounds like great fun - I would like to get up to Gettysburg one day soon. I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing memorial day weekend but I'll find something to do.
