Thinking ahead

I'm sure most of you are sick of hearing about my love of Gettysburg by now, so I am going to move on a bit to other things, but I am already dreaming of my next trip there. We had such a hectic time on this past trip to Gettysburg that we have already decided to try and make up for it. I have another weeks vacation coming up in Oct. and as it turns out my birthday and the anniversary of when my husband and I met in person for the first time fall within that same week, so we can't think of any better way of celebrating than returning to the town we love.
I put $10.00 in the savings jar today to save toward the trip. That doesn't sound like much but if I can save just 10 a week until we go we will have an extra $130 dollars to spend. That will pay almost half of the money for our cabin. Of course I hope to save more as we get closer, but I figure 10 a week is a safe amount and won't be missed as much as setting a higher goal.
It looks like we will take our dog with us when we go back next time. Up until now either my daughter or my ex-husband (yes we have a strange divorce) have watched her for me. This time however they have a vacation planned for the same time. The Campground charges an extra 15 a night for pets (which is a bit high considering that they only charge 60 for the cabin), but that beats what a local kennel will charge. She (the dog) is use to staying in a kennel/cage while we are at work, so I think she will be fine in it at the cabin. We can check on her every few hours and still enjoy ourselves. Anyway this is months away, but I am dreaming already....

I'm not tired of reading your trip to Gettysburg or any part of your blog.
But the trip this fall sounds romantic.

Coffee is on.

Hello!
I am a recent reader and usually just read quietly, but I have to say, I am not tired of your trips to Gettysburg either!:) One can "feel" the excitement and the love you have for this place so much in your words. As a matter of fact: I am thinking now about going there myself! Please don't stop telling us about it! (I subscribed to your other blogs too..and even read the entire Gettysburg one in one sitting!only the slide shows didn't all work for me :( )

Looking forward to more!

Hugs,
B.

Hello dear Patty:-)

I can certainly understand your love for Gettysburg because it's the same thing with me and Niagara Falls! I so love being there and I'm forever researching the war of 1812 that occured there and trying to find spots we haven't seen before that is steeped in history. This coming weekend Steve & I are going back there and will take part in a Ghost Walk in Niagara on the Lake (about a 15 minute drive away from Niagara Falls itself) so I'm quite excited about it!!

I've just read your last few posts I had missed and I so loved seeing all the photos from your trip. You certainly did see a lot and that picture you bought, of the widow at the grave with her ghost husband beside her is absolutely beautiful!! I love it!! Also love the old time photo you had done...you're right, I had read before as well that in most old photos you don't see the people smiling because of it taking so long for the picture to be taken.

What a fun event that Blackbeard festival looked to be! I would enjoy something like that as well since I've always had a fascination with pirates and pirate ships:-) You and I would get along so well traveling together, we love so many of the same things! lol

Hope you're having a good week! xoxo
