My favorite dog

I think out of all the dog breeds, the Collie is my all time favorite. Part of this is due to me remembering my first dog. When I was about 4 we had a collie who's name was Queen. I can remember being outside and Queen walking along side me. My mom tells me that is because she would guard me and make sure I didn't try and cross the road. Evidentially we lived on a corner and I was allowed to play on the sidewalk but not go across the street. She was a smart dog. I think we had her for a couple of years. When I was five my dad joined the Navy and we moved from GA. to CALIF. Queen was given to a farm where she lived out her life herding sheep. We went once a few years after the move to visit her. She remembered us and I have never forgot her.
I suppose this happy childhood memory lead me to my love of Lassie
I remember sitting in front of the TV watching her adventures. No matter how much trouble Timmy got in Lassie always came to the rescue. I always knew she would get help in the end, Timmy would be fine and life would go on. I loved that dog and always wished for my own Lassie. I did get to see Lassie once. He (did you know Lassie was really a male) was in a parade in San Diego. It was a proud moment. I think the dog impressed me more than anything else. Although I do remember once seeing Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, riding on Trigger at the same parade.(I can't remember if it was the same year)
While remembering all this a few days ago, I decided to do a Google search for Lassie. I found theOfficial site along with theUnofficial one, which has some wonderful Lassie Trivia on it. While playing around on the official site I ran across the web page for
Jon Provost who stared in the original show as Timmy. He has a great site, and after I finished reading it I stopped to sign his guestbook. Much to my delight a couple of days later I received the following email. It was from Jon himself. I am posting it here for everyone to read. Be sure and visit and tell him hello.

Dear (My real name)
Thanks for your kind words about my work on the show. I really
appreciate you taking the time to let me know what it meant to you.
Stay
well and stop by the site again soon. And now that I have your e-mail
address, I'll let you know when I'm going to be on TV or in your area.
Best,
Jon Provost
