Cherry Nut Cake
I mentioned awhile back that I was posting my favorite recipes Here Since it is almost Christmas I thought this might be a good cake to bake so I wanted to share it on my main blog
Cherry Nut Cake
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 c chopped walnuts
1/2 c shortening
1/3 c cherry juice
1/2 c milk
16 cherries, cut
1/2-3/4 c egg whites (4 large eggs)
Preheat oven to 375º combine all ingredients except egg whites; beat with spoon for 2 minutes. Add egg whites (unbeaten). Beat 2 more minutes. Do not over beat.
Bake for 20-25 minutes in two 8" round cake pans. Cool on wire racks. frost with white frosting. Garnish with walnuts and cherries

Ummm...sounds great! Is that maraschino cherries? My Mother would love it!!

Catch, it calls for cherries, but I think for the granish the maraschino would be fine..I love them.
