Work and other things

I can always tell when a person has never worked retail a day in there life. They are all the same. Rude, obnixious and in a hurry. Today Mr. I want it now and you better snap to it came in. I was on my way to the trash dumpster when he caught me. "I need help he said, walking briskly away from me". What was it you needed I ask...Thinking to myself. If you would stand still jerk and tell me what you want maybe I can help you..

I want this dog bed, I don't see it, How much is it. he says....I look at the bed and say to him..Here is the price..pointing to the printed sign taped to the shelf under it..Thinking to myself open your eyes idiot...

It is $39.99 I say. Well it doesn't have a price on it..he says..I think look jerk I just told you the price..I smile and tell him let me go up front and make sure this is the right tag..and I walk away telling him I will be right back.

As I turn to leave he is saying Well nothing is ever priced in here, I don't know how you can stay in business, It is like this every time I come, I just keep walking and think to myself ...why do you come here then Ass hole.

I return a few minutes later having confirmed the price and that we did have others in stock. I also bring a tape measure to make sure the one I showed him is the one that matches the price sign...I say to him that price is correct , measure the bed and confirm it.

While I was gone he has picked out a cloth pillow bed, which of course was not priced. So I smile again, say Oh I'm sorry let me check that for you and once again go all the way to the front of the store to price the darn thing. I As I am leaving I hear him say...This is why this store is always empty.Your going to go out of business because nothing is priced. I don't say a word as I walk away but think Fuck You...and tell my manager that she needs to go wait on this man before I take the bed pillow and smother him with it. I get the price, take it back to Mr Jerk, He is still complaining because he can't find the bed in a box..I look at the item number, walk right up to the box, point and tell him there they are..Thinking..You are such a jerk I hope they all fall on your head when you pull it down..He jerks the one off display and says to me..I will just take this one..Fine I think...just go (to hell) I walk up front with the man ring him up and smile..Have nice day I say....I tell my manger....I hope his dog pees on the bed..

And how was your day

Tale of the Stonecutter

This was in my email today and is from About U. free email courses "Daily Pagan Devotionals"

A stonecutter was labouring one day, cutting blocks of granite. It was hot and he was unhappy with the hard work. A local official came by the quarry, carried in a covered chair. The poor stonecutter had to walk wherever he went. He watched the official go by, wishing that he could be that important. The Gods were listening, and the stonecutter found himself turned into a city official, being carried through the streets by servents. It was wonderful to be treated with such respect. But as his chair was carried through the streets, he had to stop. He yelled to the servents about the delay. .
One told him that the emperor himself was travelling through the city, and all traffic had to halt to give him passage. The stonecutter sighed and became angry. He wanted to be emperor so that everyone would have to wait for him. Again, the Gods answered his prayer and turned him into the emperor. The entire city stood by while his caravan travelled by. This was living! Finally, the stonecutter was an important man. As the day wore on, he became very hot. Even the cover on his wagon couldn't protect him from the fierce sun. He looked into the sky and became angry. Even as emperor, the sun was still more powerful than he. He wished to be the sun, and the Gods allowed it.
As the sun, he glared down on the world, feeling more powerful than ever. Until a cloud floated in front of him, and blocked his hot rays from the earth. Again he wishes, and again the Gods transformed him. Now he was a cloud, blocking the sun and raining on the world. He moved through the sky, enjoying his new great power, until he was blocked by a tall mountain. How could this mountain be more powerful than I? The Gods turned him into the mountain. Now he was huge, massive and untouchable. That was great power. Then he felt something chipping at his base. What could be stronger than a great mountain, he thought? Down on the ground, there was a stonecutter.
I'm sure the moral here is obvious. Constant yearning to be something you're not, will never lead to happiness. Even people who may seem to have everything, probably don't.

What Kind Of Witch Are You (Quiz)

I found this quiz at Nio's-Solidy Average

You are an Earth Witch!

The Material Element of Earth is at your command. You feel out of your skin when confined to the indoors but instantly feel better once your bare feet are touching the Earth you love so much. You nurture all things you feel need nurturing and don't care what people think of you for it. Blunt to the point of having no tact, you don't like to beat around the bush, no pun intended. It takes a lot to get you riled up, but Goddess help the poor soul who gets to you. They'll probably end up 6 feet under... or deeper.

Common Powers:
Geokinesis- the ability to move rock and metal with one's mind
Florakinesis- the ability to control trees, plants, and flowers with one's mind
Healing touch- the ability to heal another person with their touch
Shapeshifting- the ability to take on the form and abilities of another

Wait a few minutes for it to penetrate before covering with soaks. Try this every day for two weeks...

The Weekend

I've been fighting a cold for the last few days, so this has been a pretty quiet weekend. I did manage to find a few bargins when I stopped into the thrift store. I got this at the bargin price of 95 Cents. Below is the information I found on the net about this exact sign. If your interested you can find them here.... http://www.hexsigns.com/

A classic, well known design often seen on home entry ways. The large, stylized Pennsylvania Dutch greeting, "Wilkum," extends a warm and friendly welcome to all. Facing Distelfink birds ensure happiness and good fortune. A "lucky" star and greenery, symbolizing life's bounty, complete the design. A lovely way to welcome others to your home.

I also found this cute little plant stand. I loved the colors. At first I thought of giving it to my daughter since it looked bright and cheerful, and more her style since she is young. The more I looked at it though the more I liked it, so I brought it home instead. Now I just have to find a spot for it and some plants. I'm thinking of fake ones so I can put it in the bathroom (maybe).

Anyway that was the highlight of my dull life ha ha..

Memories

About a year ago I started writing a blog. In it I talked about my life starting from my earliest memories, I ended it upon leaving my husband of almost 25 years. I did it mostly for me, to help sort out feelings and face some ghost from my past. I had been doing the blog for several months when I felt like it was time to share the url with my ex husband. What I didn't know was by doing that I would open myself up to criticizing by friends of his who had never met me, knew nothing about me except what they had been told and took it upon themselves to judge me. In a moment of anger I deleted that blog. I have always been sorry. I think I should have finished it for a lot of reasons. One to show people that one can change. That we do learn and grow and become one with our-self. Mostly I think I needed to do it for me. I needed to remind myself that I am special. That everything that happens in a marriage and a divorce are not always one sided or one spouse fault. I needed to do it to build my strength to move forward in life, and to forgive not only others but myself.

Tonight I found a file that had most of the drafts from the blog saved. I am thinking of republishing some if not all of it here. If I do this time I will not allow comments, or at lest moderate them. I will not stop writing due to narrow minded people who only want to believe what they have been told or who want to see things from one side. I will not only publish what I had written before I will add to it. I will take away the sugar coating and I will continue where I left off..I am going to think about it and see how I feel about the idea of all this in a few days..

In the mean time, please keep my ex in your thoughts and prayers, he went back to the Dr. yesterday and they told him that since he had the heart attack and surgery the first week of July that he has had another heart attack. This time it has left heart damage. He is feeling depressed and scared right now...So are we all...

Life goes on

Pet Peeves

I really need a better job.

Pet Peeve #1

People don't bother to tell us when there dog pees or poops on the floor..SURPRISE look what I found..

Pet Peeve #2..Why do people bring a dog into a crowded pet store on a retractable leash and let it out 4 ft. so the dog is wrapped around everyone and everything. Including other dogs who are bigger and meaner than they are...DUMB

Pet Peeve # 3..We have a vet that comes only on Saturday. It is a walk in clinic. The line starts at the front door. We have a foyer way where they wait, then go down a short hall way to see the DR. People are in line with there pets. I'm busy ringing up sales.People will interupt me and ask..Where is the vet..I smile and say to them..Go back out to the front door and get in line..I think to myself. OPEN YOUR EYES IDIOT..Why do you think all those people are in a line out there..DUH

Pet Peeve # 4..People who put there small dog up on my conyvor belt and let it stand there while they are paying me. .I want to say to them. TAKE YOUR DAMN DOG OFF THE BELT..PEOPLE DON'T WANT YOUR FLEAS..I smile instead and pet the little darling and tell it how cute it is..

Pet Peeve #5.

People who stand at the very end of the conveyor belt and won't move there things forward when they hear me tell them the belt is not working..they think my arms are TEN FEET LONG...Snap growl bite!!

I'm sure there are more things I could complain about but this is my main complaint list.

Craft Time

Making a Dream Pillow

If you enjoy working with your dreams, or just want to encourage more interesting dreams, you could try making a dream pillow. All you need is some fabric, needle and thread, and some herbs. Choose a fabric with a fine weave, or the herbs will leak out. Cut 2 squares of fabric (4-5" across). Place them together with the good sides of the design on the inside. Sew around the edges, closing up 3 sides. Turn your pillow inside-out so the good sides are on the outside. Stuff with herbs, and sew the final side. Don't fill too full. It should lie fairly flat under your pillow.

Green Acres Is The Place To Be...LOST

Green acres is the place for me.
Farm livin' is the life for me.
Land spreadin' out so far and wide.
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside

New York is where I'd rather stay.
I get allergic smelling hay.
I just adore a penthouse view.
Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.
...The chores.
...The stores.
...Fresh air.
...Times Square
You are my wife.
Good bye, city life.
Green Acres we are there.

Did you ever have the words to a song just pop into your head for no reason. Well the song from the TV show Green Acres, came to mind today for me. I felt like I was lost in some sort of crazy sitcom and couldn't find my way out of it. I drove today for what seemed like hours out into the country to visit with two Aunts of mine. When I say out in the country I mean WAY out, or at lest it seemed that way at the time. The day started off normal enough..Well as normal as things ever are for my family....Here's the story.

My mom is one of ten kids, seven sisters and two brothers. She is somewhere in the middle age wise. The youngest of her sisters lives in Richmond. We don't see her often, but she (Aunt J....) found out recently that she has cancer. She is the second of my mom's sisters in the last few years to get cancer (also one of her older sisters had cancer many many years ago, but they got all hers and it never came back). Anyway when Aunt G... found out Aunt J had cancer, she came up from South Carolina for a visit. Since my mom lives in Va. Beach they all wanted to get together for a day. Since Aunt J..doesn't feel well it seemed logical that my mom go up there for the visit. I offered to take her up for the day. It is only a bout an hour and a half to two hours from my house..Just a nice day trip. Ok simple enough you 'd think..Yea right! If you have read this blog for any time at all you know nothing I do or touch is ever simple. First of all I told my mom that she needed to come stay the night last night so that we didn't have to back track an extra hour this morning. My sister Michelle (A little bit of this a little bit of that.) lives with mom, so of course she wanted to come to. Which is great, She is like me, she never gets away, so it was a good reason to get out of town for the day. Only problem was she really needed to study for a test she has coming up on Monday. So mom and her debated back and forth and back and forth...Go or stay,go or stay. Mom really wanted to come. Michelle really wanted to come, but they were driving each other (and ME) nuts trying to do the best thing for everyone. Finally last night about midnight my husband and I drove to there house and got them and drove them back here where they stayed at my daughters house for the night .(she went next door to her dads, since he has the only spare bedroom) My daughter and grandson wanted to come today too, so about 7 this morning the five of us (counting the baby) crammed into my car and off we went. I had map quested the driving directions and they sounded simple enough, we made all the right turns and bi-passed the city limits with out a hitch. Finally we were down to the last 20 miles. Turn left here, go to this road, turn right..go down a mile turn left..go down to XXX road and turn right..Your there...simple huh...NO!! Not only did the road we were looking for not exist the further we drove the further into the country we seem to be getting. City roads had turned into two lane country roads and we were getting no where fast. Finally we decided we had missed the road we were looking for and pulled into a dirt road to turn around. About time we turned in, my daughter realized my grandson needed a diaper change. I told her just lay him on the grass (pointing to a clearing) and change him. Well much to my surprise, my 70 year old mother jumps out of the car and announces. I HAVE TO PEE...What she did next was so funny I am still laughing about it. She walks to the edge of the road, near a mail box and hikes down her pants and pees. Michelle and I almost died. Not only were we shocked, we laughed so hard we both almosted peed our pants. I could not believe what I was seeing. Here is my daughter with a half naked 15 month old changing a diaper and mom peeing..Oh my God..I wish I had the camera out at that point. It would have made top spot on this blog. I was just Thankful no cars came by. Anyway after a couple of more wrong turns..Thanks Map Quest...(NEVER USE MAP QUEST...IT SUCKS) we managed to find the house.

We had a nice visit. I love the yard. It was huge and backed up to some lovely woods. I went and sat awhile on a bench under a tree, thinking how I wish I had a place like that to go to on full moon nights. There was even a little clearning which would have been great for a ritual. They also had a pool which Michelle, my daughter and gradnson swam in for awhile. I had planned to get in but my Aunt G....was busy showing me her knitting and by the time we talked awhile and I saw it lunch was ready and the swim was over...Oh well maybe next time. We had an awesome pork roast with veggies. Before we knew it, it was time to leave, and we got better directions out so we got home with out a problem. I by passed my exit and took mom and Michelle home, stayed there for awhlle and made it back here about 8.Thankfully my ex had called and offered to cook supper and my husband had helped me clean house last night, so all I had to do was come in and sit down. I'm exhausted and have to work all week. My next day off won't be until Friday. All my laundry is dirty, and that will need to be done tomorrow night. At lest my daughter is off tonight so I don't have my grandson, that means I can sleep till the last minute tomorrow and my bed is calling me now. I am posting some photos from today...

My Day

I left early today in hopes of finding some help wanted signs around town. It wasn't meant to be and all I managed to do was waste half a day walking around the mall, and a couple of other stores window shopping. I didn't find a thing I wanted anywhere. Isn't that the way it always seems to go. If you actually GO shopping, you can't find a thing. It is when you just run in for one thing that you find a million things and have not money..Sigh...When my daughter came home, her and I decided to go thrift store shopping. I did manage to find a bargin there. I got a candle stick for a quarter Whoo Hooo, you didn't know I was such a big spender did you *giggle*

We also stopped in at A.J. Wright where I found this cute cat.

The house didn't get cleaned and I didn't get any rest. But what else is new...Oh well, I'm off again Sunday.

Something to ponder

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

Just another blah blah day

Not a lot happening the last few days (shhh I can't say that to loud for fear something will go wrong). Work is slow..but nothing new about that. Work is always slow. I really don't know how we stay in business. It's pretty sad when the highlight of my day is selling a casket to a man for his cat. I felt bad for the guy. I'm guessing his wife sent him out to find one, because when it came down to finding the price for it (it wasn't marked). He didn't flinch when I quoted $119.00 to him. "Yea that is fine he says. Let's just do it and get on with it." He paid and tucked the box under his arm. I shook my head, thinking what I could buy for that kind of money. Now don't get me wrong, I love animals, especially cats, but I think that is a bit much for a casket for a cat. (or dog). What happened to the days when people just dug a hole in the yard and put them in it, or had the pound pick up the remains. I love animals. I think mine are the best thing since sliced cheese, but a hundred bucks for box...Hmmm I would have to think about that awhile. As I speak(write) my newest kitten Molly is laying on my chest. She is going through the I love my mommy stage that Maggie went through about 6 weeks ago. They are both brats, they kept coming in the bedroom last night and played chase using our bed as home base. I think my toes were the reward for who ever hit the mattress first because they seemed to come back over and over. Anyway I'm just rambling tonight. I had to work until 9, and have those same hours tomorrow..Yuck..At lest Friday is my day off this week. I am thinking very seriously about going and putting in some job applications. I am just not sure where. Oh well life goes on..

Book Divination

Stichomancy is a rather obscure form of divination that uses random words from a book. It's also called bibliomancy. Pick a sizable book from your bookshelf (Pagan or otherwise) and close your eyes. Think about something you will be facing today and concentrate on it for a moment. Keeping your eyes closed, open the book and flip to a random page. Place your finger on it and see what word you've chosen. If you've struck a spot that is just white space or you got a useless word like "the", try it again. Keep this word in your mind during the day and see how (or if) it applies to the situation you were thinking about

The Whole Of Me

The Whole of Me

by Elowen GreyWolf

I know not what path I follow

It is the one deep within

It calls to be in the dark of the night

It sooths me in the brightness of the day

When I reach for it - to hold it and give it a name

It slips away, elusive as the misty rain

I want to name it so that I can explain myself

So, that when someone says what do you do

I can say I am this to you

However, when I try to label it

It fades....

The time I spend trying to see what it is

I miss being what I am

For my path is me

It is the heart that beats within

It is the love that leaps and out of control spins

It is being one with the storm

It is standing barefoot around the cauldron in the snow

It is dancing around the May Pole in the moon's bright light

It is laying on the trampoline, surrounded by grandchildren

Picking out with them the point of light I will be - when I die

It is holding hands with my husband

It is watching young ones cast their first circle

And knowing in that moment in time - the circle will never end

Knowing that my path is forever with the Lord and Lady

That They are part of the whole of me

So what path am I

All and none, the one perfect for me

More on the weekend

After the tour we went back to the motel. We had asked for a room near the pool, thinking we would find time this morning for a swim. We had not been inside very long when I thought I kept hearing a boom box. You know the echo of a stereo or tv. BAh Boom, bah boom, just the base playing. Dang I thought, what is that. I went outside and could still hear it a little, so I walked up and down the row of rooms trying to figure out who was playing music. It was almost midnight and we were tired. I couldn't pinpoint it so I went back in and we turned on the TV. The boom boom got louder, so I called the front desk. The night clerk told me that someone was having a private party and had paid for the banquet room so there was nothing she could do...Ok I said, pissed and hung up. 20 minutes later I called AGAIN, only to be told that the party was scheduled to go on until ONE a.m. F*ck this shit I thought, I want a new room. I told her as much and she sent the security out to take us to a new room. We opened the door only to be slapped with the odor of cigarette smoke. Since none of us smoke we refused that room. Down the hall we went. The next room smelled better, but someone had partied in the room and left it trashed. No one had cleaned yet. By now I was really pissed, and tired and just wanted to go to bed. I told the guard forget it, and we went back to the original room and went to bed. Sometime after 1 I feel asleep. Never again will I stay at a Holiday Inn and I am thinking very seriously about getting the address of the corperate offices and filing a complaint.

Morning found us once again heading back to Cary town where we had heard there was going to be a water mellon festival today. After drving around up and down the one way streets AGAIN, and getting frustrated, we lucked out and found a parking just two blocks over from where we wanted to be. We had arrived early and still found a large crowd. We shopped some more going back to the shop where I got the witch. I had seen this one and wanted it. I knew I would be sorry if I didn't go back for her.

Things that go bump in the night

After a late start we finally arrived in Richmond. I'm still trying to figure out how we got there because the town seems to be made up of nothing but one way streets. We were so frustrated by the time we arrived at our first stop. We made a wrong turn and came upon this.

img_1308.JPG

We stopped and asked a family who were feeding the geese which way to go and found out we were just yards from Maymont House http://www.maymont.org/

img_1329.JPG

We went in and found a lovely mansion on 100 acres. The gardens were beautiful and so was the house. They wouldn't let us take photos inside but you can go to the website for more information if you want it. (more photos will be on the next post)

We stayed there for a couple of hours and thought we better find out where the ghost tour was and a motel. We finally found our way downtown to the Haunts of Richmond

We had a couple of hours to kill so we took a walk around that part of town. The first thing we found was a farmers market.

img_1339.JPG

We poked around there for awhile grabbing a hot dog for lunch, then went across the street to do a little shopping. While in the first shop we asked the clerk if he could recommend an area of town for us to sight see. He told us "go to Carytown (Carytown is an urban retail district lining Cary Street at the southern end of the Museum District in Richmond. Begun in the 1930s with the construction of what was then a suburban shopping center at Cary Court, the district now includes over 250 shops, restaurants, and offices. The area has thrived as a center for high-end, independent retail shops and boutiques, and is also home to one of the city's most beloved institutions, the Byrd Theatre, a restored movie palace that has operated continuously since 1928 and shows second-run films for a famous $2 ticket price....From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Now for you women out there you know we were in heaven. We shopped until we dropped. Lots of unique, eclectic stores. Some way over priced, but some with bargins which we jumped on. The first store we went to I spotted this,

Now anyone who knows me, or who has been reading this blog for very long understands. I fell in love. The price was only $29- with an extra 20% off. Still I hesitated. It was after all only the first store and I didn't want to jump to soon on spending money. My daughter who knows me very well of course, says to me. Mom do you want it, and I said yea, but I will wait since we just got here. So what does she do. grabs it up and goes and pays for it. She is so good to her old mom!

We had an enjoyable day finding more bargins along the way.

I'm not sure what I will do with the red elephant, probably use it as a planter, but it called to me.

Anyway after we shopped awhile we went in search of a motel. Finally we spotted a Holiday Inn, and booked a room. By then it was time to head back downtown again.

More wrong turns and one way streets took us back to where we needed to be, and we ate a sub sandwich and headed back to the haunt. This time we went inside to let our guide know we were there.

They said we still had about a half hour so once again we took to the streets. While hanging around outside near the farmers market (where we had been earlier in the day) we looked up in the sky only to see thousands of birds. Now let me tell you this. It scared the shit out of me. I have never seen so many birds at one time. I thought I was in a horror movie. Alfred Hitchcock "The birds" came to mind and my imagination went into over drive. I didn't know if we should run for cover or grab the camera. The camera won and here are several photo's. All the black dots you see are BIRDS.

img_1345.JPG

We asked a couple of locals about them, and no one seemed to concerned. It seems they hang out in the trees around there. Needless to say we didn't hang out long, and went back to take the tour.

img_1354.JPG

Much to our surprise there were 18 other people besides our-self signed up for the tour and we all grouped together to meet our guide. As it turns out she was the same person who had given us the tour of Maymont earlier in the day. Anyway we were all off and running..Seriously, she was walking so fast we had to almost run to keep up. Now my husband walks with a limp and had brought his cane, but we really lagged behind and almost dropped out before we came to our first stop. She did slow down a little but we were disappointed in how she rushed us through the city streets. My daughter who is in excellent shape even agreed it was to fast for her. A lot of it was uphill and it was dark and traffic was bad.We had to cross several busy streets. The stories she told outside the buildings were ok, but I wasn't impressed. I didn't even get a chill. It was boring stuff, like 50 people were killed in a flood here...blah blah blah...Ok so what..the river isn't even in that spot now, a parking lot is, so I just rolled my eyes mostly. For 15 dollars a ticket plus a handling charge I expected a little more. We didn't go inside anywhere, and I would NOT recommend this tour if your in Richmond. The highlight of the tour was we did get to go up to the gate of the governors house and the lights upstairs were on. The guard outside said he was home but we didn't see him. The phone at the gate rang while we were there and we think it was someone inside the house asking what we were doing, but no one came out. I took some photos along the way, and we did get some orbs in them. It could be the lighting or it could be spirits...I will let everyone use there own imagination where that is concerned.

Anyway I will post a few more photos and then I will do a new post to talk about Sunday

img_1361.JPG Click and enlarge this..You will see the orbs I was talking about...Is it the light? Or the people who drown when the river flooded before this canal was built on this spot?
